About

Joshua Kahan, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified neurologist and neurocritical care physician, certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, a medical degree, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Neuroscience from University College London (UCL).

Dr. Kahan completed an internship in Internal Medicine, followed by a residency in Neurology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College. He then completed a fellowship in Neurocritical Care through the combined program at Weill Cornell and Columbia University.

He currently serves as an attending physician at Montefiore Medical Center, where he cares for patients with complex neurological conditions. He is also an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and serves as Associate Program Director of the Neurocritical Care Fellowship.

Dr. Kahan’s research focuses on the use of neuroimaging and emerging technologies to diagnose, treat, and understand brain injury. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including Brain, NeuroImage, Neurology, JAMA Neurology, and Nature Medicine. He has presented his work at national and international conferences and has served as a reviewer for journals such as Cerebral Cortex, Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism, JNNP, NeuroImage, NeuroImage: Clinical, Neurological Research, Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews, and Frontiers in Human Neuroscience.

He regularly lectures on the management and treatment of neurological disorders to fellows, residents, medical students, physician assistants, and nurses at Montefiore and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
